Meet The GLA Team

Angelette Aviles

Creative Content Manager

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Angelette Aviles’ DNA gave her the ability to constantly think outside the box in order to generate buzz through creative brand messaging, storytelling, and publicity. Her success was noticed by many who sought her advice, thus prompting her to launch a communications and branding firm in 2006 in Florida as a subsidiary of a larger consulting business where she was a vice president of Marketing and Communications.

Aviles and her team quickly managed long term projects in the sports, entertainment, political, and commercial industries with clients such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Supervisor of Elections, Feld Entertainment, and mayoral and senate races.

In the meantime, between 2011-2016 she launched a cupcake truck and cakery business winning many awards, including “Food Court Wars,” giving her a 2nd location in the Annapolis region. Aviles treated her business like any client while a staff of 14 ran the front and back of house. She later sold it and temporarily moved to Japan, where she continued serving clients from oversees while leading a cross cultural non-profit organization for women and was credited with increasing revenue and doubling their charitable contributions.

In her free time, she served as a surrogate for the Republican Party of Florida’s Hispanic audiences and was a respected source for commentary as a speaker, panelist, or in the media, frequently seen on the weekly political talk show Florida this Week, the Associated Press, FOX-13, the Times, and Univision.

Aviles was also a contributor to Newt Gingrich’s the Americano and a paid columnist with the Baltimore Sun and the Capital Gazette. In addition, Aviles was a gubernatorial appointee for the Early Learning Coalition Board of Hillsborough County, overseeing an $80 million budget for early education programs including VPK, which fed into the 8th largest district in the United States.

Her appointment allowed her to also serve as a member of N.A.L.E.O., and during this time she received the 2008 Up & Comers Award given by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Seven years later, after relocating back to Maryland, she was appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to serve on the Commission of Hispanic Affairs.

While in Japan, she realized the next chapter in her life would be to take her multiple skills and passion in policy to work for an organization that is making long lasting change by breaking barriers, thus joining the Stand Together community in 2018.
